Professor Muhammad Safiyyu Abdulkadir, born on April 22, 1974, in Bauchi Local Government Area, Bauchi State, Nigeria, is a distinguished scholar in Arabic Literature. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Arabic Language, and a B.A. (Ed) in Arabic, having studied at institutions including Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, University of Jos, and Bayero University, Kano.
In January 2024, Professor Abdulkadir was appointed as the first professor of Arabic Literature at the Federal University of Kashere, Gombe State, marking a significant milestone as the first indigene of Bauchi State to achieve this rank.
Throughout his academic career, he has authored over forty scholarly works, including books, articles, and book reviews, contributing significantly to the field of Arabic studies. His research is widely recognized both nationally and internationally, and he has participated in numerous conferences, symposiums, and workshops globally.
Professor Abdulkadir has held several key academic and administrative positions, such as Head of the Department of Languages at the Federal University of Kashere from 2016 to 2018, and Arabic Coordinator for 100-level students from 2014 to 2016. He has also served as a lecturer at Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic, Bauchi, and Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education. His dedication to teaching and mentorship is evident in his supervision of numerous undergraduate and postgraduate students, including current doctoral candidates.
His professional affiliations include membership in the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the Nigeria Association of Teachers of Arabic in Colleges of Education and Allied Institutions (NATACEDAI), and the National Association of Teachers of Arabic and Islamic Studies (NATAIS).
